Plano-Based ZERO BREEZE Launches New Portable AC for Outdoors » Dallas Innovates

ZERO BREEZE, a Plano-based startup with a seven-year history in the outdoor portable cooling industry, has announced its newest product; the Mark 3 AC. Debuting on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform on October 25, the device surpassed its funding goal by 350% within the first 24 hours, the startup said.

The device is a follow-up to the company’s Mark 2 portable AC device, which ZERO BREEZE says has been used by teams in the IndyCar series “to keep their drivers cool.”

Founded by Max Ma in 2016, ZERO BREEZE is led by its Plano-based CEO, Shawn Zhang.

The Mark 3 “isn’t just another portable AC,” the company says, calling it “a powerhouse designed for the outdoors.” With a cooling capacity of 5,280 BTU, the device is designed for campers, van dwellers, overlanding enthusiasts, semi-truck drivers, and more.

The company says that off-road enthusiasts using rooftop tents considered the Mark 2 to be “a game-changing’ device that enhances their outdoor sleeping experience.” Well, the new version should really rock their socks off, as it “doubles the cooling capacity” of the previous model, according to ZERO BREEZE.

The new Mark 3 achieves this despite its small form factor, measuring just 22″ x 10″ x 12″ and weighing just a tad under 20 pounds. The device offers seven comfort modes, and comes with a dual thermostat option that lets it serve as a heater, as well.

ZERO BREEZE says the Mark 3 is compatible with various power sources, including an AC 500W Adapter, Mark 3 Batteries, and a 500W MPPT solar power setup for off-grid environments.

But turning those hot summer days into cool moments of respite doesn’t come cheap. Its retail price is $1,299—though the device is available on Indiegogo for an $899 “early bird price” through December 9.

You can see a video that shows the Mark 3 in action on the product’s Indiegogo page, which actually lists an early bird price of $799 for the “basic” Mark 3 model and prices of $1,299 to $2,299 for Mark 3 Plus, Plus Extra, and Max offerings. All the products are listed as not available for shipping until April 2024.

Whether he's buying a pro pickleball team or disrupting big pharma with his cost-plus drug company, Mark Cuban says he's a "ready, fire, aim" businessman. So he surrounds himself with "ready, aim, fire" perfectionists to keep him from "screwing everything up." That's just one insight the billionaire shared in a fireside chat with Backstage Capital founder Arlan Hamilton at the Venture Dallas conference last week. “There's always going to be somebody smarter, there's always going to be somebody faster, better," Cuban added. "I just try to work a little harder.”
